Getting The Right Golf Flags For Your Course

Whether it's a smaller set of greens or a full 18 hole one at a club, golf flags should be carefully selected. Here's what to consider before getting yours.

While you may think all golf flags are the same, you’re going to find that there are actually a few different types.  You want to be sure that you select the right sort for your golf course if you want to be sure you have that right type of professional look and feel. Without the right types of flags you’re going to find that your course just won’t have that professional feel.  What’s more, you want to get a lot of life out of the types you buy, so it’s important that you can ensure they are properly durable as well.

When you’re looking for the right types of golf flags, there are a few things you want to think about, so that you can be sure that you’re buying the right type. Typically, there are a few different styles and varieties, so it’s important that you find the right sort to represent your club and course the best.  Here are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind on your search:

1)      Make sure your golf course flags are built to last.

That means you have to be sure that you’re finding the right types of flags that were built to handle just about any type of weather condition and stay looking pristine. Some of the biggest concerns include the types of material that the flag is made from, as well as what sorts of numbers are sewn into the flag itself.  You always want to be sure that they are made from a durable type of nylon, so that you can be sure that they are custom made to handle both moisture, as well as the harsh rays of the sun.

What’s more, you’re also going to find that with some types of flags that feature printed numbers, they can crack and begin to peel over time.  That happens when your putting green flags have been out in the sun just for too long.  But this is easy to remedy with classic sewn numbers instead.  This way, you can get that great classic look as well, that will make the course look instantly that much more stylish, which is something that golfers are going to be receptive to.

2)      Find golf course flags that are of the right size.

This is actually pretty important, so that you can ensure that your flags are the right size, and therefore the right style for your course.  Most typically for full outdoor courses, you want to go with taller rods of around 6 to 7 feet.  That way, they can be seen from very far away, so that you can be sure that you’re going to be able to see which hole is which, as well as the exact direction of the hole, so that you can make the best shots possible.

This is different if you operate a mini golf course, or a practice green, because you don’t want your golf flags to be quite so distracting.  Instead, you want to go with the smaller types that are about half the length.  That way, you can be sure that you have them of about the right size so that they still have that great golf aura that every course needs no matter the size.  But they also won’t be too distracting, and won’t get in the way with the smaller overall size of your course as well.

3)      Golf flags can come in all different colors

This can be really important when it comes to your clubs that feature multiple courses.  Typically each course has a name, but also a particular color assignment to differentiate.  If you’re operating on somewhat limited space, sometimes courses can overlap.  By getting flags of a different color for each course, and then keeping them the same throughout otherwise, you can be sure that you’re able to easily identify the next hole and where you need to play to complete a round.  This makes it much easier on the golfers, ensuring they are still going to be able to have a good time.

In fact, you can also get custom golf flags as well, so that you can give the course a really unique look and feel.  For that, there are a wealth of sites where you can order all sorts of different quality flags.  From online specialists like:

There you’re able to find literally any types of golf flags you could want, so that you can be sure you’re going to be capable of decorating your course in the right way.
