The Good and Bad About Getting Golf Lessons Online

The idea of getting golf lessons online may seem weird since you're not face to face with a teacher, nor are you on the course; but this is a training method growing in popularity. Here are the pros and cons.

The information age has brought us many things, and one of them is just about any type of learning or schooling that you could want on any subject can be found online.  The problem though is that this isn’t always as good as more traditional teaching methods, and that’s something that you’re going to discover as you go along.  One thing that you’re going to find with just about any type of golf lessons online, is that they can steer you in the right direction, but they cannot always replace having an actual instructor there to really guide you through the process.

That’s why it’s really important to realize that there are plenty of pros and cons that come along with getting your golf information this way.  You have to know both sides of the argument, so that you can make your own decision as to where your time is spent the best.  Therefore, first the positives of golf lessons online:

-Learn golf according to your schedule.

Whether it’s through a subscription site, free lessons online, or even through a podcast, this type of learning means that you’re on your schedule.  The problem with many golf clinics and schools is that they have a set time that they teach, and that doesn’t fall in line with everyone’s busy lives.  When you take your lessons through online golf courses, you can be sure that you can afford to learn when you want to learn.

                -Save money on your education.

Another fantastic facet of golf lessons online, is that they are oftentimes free, or are extremely affordable, so that you can be sure you’re getting a full golf education, for a fraction of the price that it would cost you to receive otherwise.  That means these are lessons that just about anyone can afford, and it will really pay off when you’re on the course in the long run.

-Concentrate on the topics you want to learn about.

Finally, online golf courses enable you to pick the curriculum, instead of having to sit in on a class that decides what and when they are going to teach you different methods.  Instead, stick to the points of your golf game that really need fine tuning in your opinion, so that you can tweak what needs to be tweaked, while preserving the skills you already have.

But of course, even with these positives there are a few downsides to golf lessons online:

                -No interaction with your instructors.

This can be a really bad thing, mostly because someone showing you what to do during your swing, or how you’re connecting with the ball is a lot different than hearing about it.  A trained instructor can watch you, and tell you to shift one small part of your game, and thereby correct everything you were doing wrong.  But with an online video that’s not possible, so you may not be getting all the relevant information that you need.  It also makes it really hard to ask questions if you have one about a certain aspect of your golf instruction online.

-You’re not able to practice in the same way.

Another massive problem with golf lessons online, is that you’re at home when you’re watching them, so it’s hard to put most of those notions to good use.  Instead of being on the course while you’re instructed, in most cases you’ll have to remember the tips that you learn, so that you can try and use them the next chance that you have to play golf.  That means it can be hard to retain the knowledge, leading to you not having that massive an impact in  how you plan in the first place.

But if you are interested in at least exploring different types of golf lessons online, you’ll find there really are a lot of sites out there that really want to help you.  Some of the ones to checkout can include:, and even  There you can get plenty of lessons for low affordable prices, or even for free.  That way, you can determine if the method is for you, by actually trying out and seeing what those lessons have to offer, or if they are just not your style in the end.
