That’s why it’s really important to do your research, so that you can figure out the Kentucky golf courses that you have to see, versus those that you can probably skip.  That’s really key to ensuring that you’re going to have a lot of fun when you’re out on the green, and that there’s going to be plenty of challenge when it comes to playing some golf.  Here are 6 of the best Kentucky golf courses, that you definitely want to see when you’re visiting the state for any length of time:

1) Champion Trace golf course

A Kentucky private golf course, but a great one in it’s own regard, this is a top place to play if you can get a membership into the club.  You’ll find 18 quality holes of golfing action, including a signature finish on the tricky 18thhole, which is a 400 yard plus hole, but also features a water hazard that makes your overall approach a bit difficult.  Once you attain membership, you’re able to golf as much as you like, as well as bring unlimited guests and even take advantage of unlimited balls for the driving range.

2) Gibson Bay Golf Course

Opened back in 1993, and designed by Michael Hurdzan this is a 72 par 7,000 plus yard course that features 450 acre complex throughout the course and surrounding area.  What you get is a really beautiful place that’s full of lush activities and opportunities for you to have a lot of fun golfing and otherwise.  You’ll also find all the holes to be relatively close to one another, so there’s no long walks trying to find the next tee for you to play.

3) Seneca golf course

Repeatedly voted the sixth best course in the state, as well as the best course in all of Louisville, this is the right place for you if you’re looking for a great mix of fun and difficulty.  What you’re going to get here is an 18 hole romp through a 72 par difficulty course.  Plus there’s a pretty fair amount of difficulty adjustment as well, where you can take the tees from being around a 4,000 yard difficulty overall, to over 7,000 for the more advanced golfers really looking for a challenge.

4) Battlefield Golf Club

Getting it’s name from the civil war battles that took place on this very ground, here you can live the history and enjoy the historic sights as you enjoy 18 hole golf on a beautiful yet challenging course.  Totally preserved to represent the battle of Richmond, yet converted into one of the greatest Kentucky golf courses on offer, you’ll find this to be a truly unique experience that you won’t really believe or expect until you step out onto the green.  But there’s assured to be something for everyone once you start to play.

5) Greenbrier Golf and Country Club

This is a championship style course, and one of the more challenging in all of Kentucky. Here you’ll encounter 6,754 yards of 72 par challenging golf, with a comfortable mix of classic long par 4 holes, and deceptively challenging par 3s as well.  That way, this course has enough to challenge even the most experienced of golfers, but is going to remain fun for those with a handicap that sees them teeing off from the more forward tees.

6) Houston Oaks Golf Club

One of the public Kentucky top golf courses throughout the state, this is the right place to play if you’re looking for great golf in Paris, Kentucky.  In fact, boasting the only quality course in the entire city, you’ll find that this is a great and refreshing change of pace from the surrounding area.  Plus if you like the course so much you’d enjoy playing more and more in the future, membership is available, so that you can enjoy unlimited golfing and fun throughout your time.
